A Family-Run Centre, Established in 2017
Lanarkshire Counselling and CBT Centre is a family-run therapy centre established in 2017 by husband and wife, Annie and Colin Caruth.
The Centre was founded with a simple aim: to make professional counselling and psychological therapy easier to access within the local community.
Since opening our doors, we have grown considerably, but we have worked hard to retain the welcoming, personal and community-focused approach on which the Centre was founded.
We understand that taking the first step towards therapy can be difficult. People can also face practical and financial barriers when trying to access the support they need.
Our aim is to provide a warm, inclusive and professional environment where people feel listened to, respected and supported.
We work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances and believe that financial difficulties should not automatically prevent someone from accessing psychological support.
Alongside our main therapy service, Lanarkshire Counselling and CBT Centre CIC helps us support this commitment by providing subsidised or free therapy where funding is available.
From a Family-Run Centre to Supporting Thousands
Since establishing the Centre in 2017, Annie and Colin, together with the therapists, trainees and others who have contributed to the Centre over the years, have helped support around 10,000 people.
While the Centre has grown, our underlying values remain the same: making therapy accessible, treating people with dignity and compassion, and providing a welcoming place within the community where people can ask for help.
For Annie and Colin, Lanarkshire Counselling and CBT Centre remains very much a family-run organisation with its roots firmly in the local community.
Counselling
Counselling in Coatbridge
Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk openly with a trained professional in a confidential and supportive environment.
There may be something specific that has brought you to counselling, or you may simply feel that things aren’t quite right and you’re not sure why.
You don’t need to have all the answers before starting therapy.
Your counsellor can help you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, understand patterns that may be affecting you and consider possible ways forward.
Counselling may help with:
* Anxiety and worry
* Stress and feeling overwhelmed
* Low mood
* Depression
* Self-esteem and confidence
* Relationship difficulties
* Life changes
* Difficult or distressing experiences
* Emotional wellbeing
* Personal development
Every person is different, so the focus of counselling will depend on your individual circumstances and goals.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT in Coatbridge
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, is a structured form of talking therapy that focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
The way we interpret situations can influence how we feel and how we respond. Sometimes these patterns can become unhelpful or difficult to change.
CBT can help you recognise these patterns and explore practical strategies for responding differently.
CBT can be useful for people experiencing:
* Anxiety
* Stress
* Low mood
* Depression
* Negative thinking patterns
* Low confidence
* Difficult emotions
* Problems that are affecting everyday life
CBT is generally practical and goal-focused. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to understand your circumstances and identify areas you would like to work on.
